The Excursion is 7K? The title for my 250 says 7480 which is a little weird because I didn't think they had weight on the title. It "feels" right though.

They do on trucks because that's how they know how much to charge you on registration. Also, the 7.3 probably adds a couple of pounds compared to the 6.8

I'm sure it does weigh more. I'll buy 7 for the excursion wasn't doubting you just asking.

I'm actually curious to hit the scale with it. My door tag says 8600 lbs but I think that it's what it could way loaded down ..... I should read more next time I glance at something

The door tag should be the gvw and not the actual truck weight

So far.... I love my choice and today I got yet another confirmation of my choice being a good one for me.... the registration. My f150 was $500.... any guesses how much for the excursion?

You're kidding. I wonder if SUVs get hit with a lesser charge... Mine was 350ish last year...BS

Where's your trailer thread?

Lol trailer thread.... probably with my next tax return.
If u had a trailer here now, my backyard would be filled with "projects".

Trucks are "commercial vehicles and therefor the registration is more. Then they charge more based on your vehicles "potential" payload and charge you as if you are at full capacity 24hrs a day. They tried doing it with SUV'S but that only lasted 4 years until it was deemed that SUV'S are not commercial vehicles.

Also one of the main reasons I went excursion. I couldn't stand getting my registration on the f150.

Yeah its a bit of a racket. With all the soccer moms DD'ing SUV's I can see why the higher reg fees didn't stick there. They should do it based on the number of seats, maybe it'd reduce the number of idiots in minivans on the road

one neat trick,, If you change the vehicle in a way that degrades its towing and carrying capacity you can get the weight fee removed... probably a huge PITA. I learned this when I was putting the shell on the truck many years ago. If you put a camper shell on and it is permanently attached it can then be registered with non-commercial plates.

I had comercial plates on the expedition when we got it and when that correction came up it cut the reg down by more than half.

I read into the registration swap on a pick up and found it to be kinda grey area. It needs to be permanent and if you remove it and get caught it's REALLY BAD. Also, I found that in order to get a camper she'll to change your status, it has to have a toilet... that seemed to be where the online people waiver back and forth
