Basically, the run to pismo will decide if it gets a lot more attention or left behind filled with Xmas trees and a road flare.

Post Re: Project Pre Pre Runner
I wrenched on it Thursday and took a few pictures. First, there it is, in all its glory

Image

Electric fan in and working complete with the worlds best brackets and most awesome wiring

Image

I found some more spare parts under the hood...

Image

The coil was in real nice shape, I can't believe the truck ran as well as it did!

Image

I replaced the spark plugs. 2 were loose and nasty from fuel and what not blowing by the threads. None of them looked good. Put in some new cheapo autolite coppers with a gap of .055, stock is .047. Step 1 of the sixlitre tune up. Then put in MSD coil (it was on sale on Summit for $45!), 9mm wires a new cap and rotor and boosh, donesies. Plus 5 HP for the ford racing blue wires.

Image

Then I plumbed up a cooler I had from my automatic days

Image

And when I was digging through the garage I found a remote filter I had lying around for some reason so figured why not, plus its a good place for a trans temp gauge, which I believe was installed by the Sunday crew so I'll let them take that.

Word on the street is its running well. Needs a few more things but its close!

Heres some pictures of people doing stuff
Image
Ryan welding some nuts onto the fancy lock lug nuts so the tires could come off
Image
Peter drilling some holes for the tow hooks
Image
Ryan and I under the truck just before we cut the exhaust off. We left the first cat on
Image
Peter clearancing the bumper for the tow hooks
Image
Tranny temp gauge mounted up
Image
and since apparently the plastic piece that makes the rubber shift boot work got tossed I fabbed up with thing with some scrap and a subaru shift boot that has some sweet cigarette holes in it from ricks new DD since he had a replacement in stock

Also both sway bars were removed as well as the rear bumper.

Post Re: Project Pre Pre Runner
so our first/most important task of the day was to get the 2 bolts out of the block that were broken off
1 was flush, 1 was sunk in. rick machined these little hex deals, with a tapered hole, and the back side was coned to get inside the hole.

they worked great and he made relitivly short work of them.

Image

while he was doing that peter finished up pluming the trans filter lines and jackson helped him run the trans temp guage (even tho it says its water(no one had an actual trans so w/e))

then we got the new pulley mounted up, thats probably the nicest piece on the whole truck, peter made sure to put some grease on it to make it blend in.

Image

Jackson and ryan got to cutting off the "free flowing" exhaust, just after the first cat, and the cat is in good unmangled reusable shape.

Image

then we went about replacing the auto hubs with manual ones and checking the bearings.

everything felt good, and didnt look/smell burnt up and they spun free/felt good so we added some new grease and put em back in

Image

thats about it for now minus the few little things that may/may not happen

She's coming together! All it really needs now is a throttle cable ( in the garage), gas and some supaflossy stickers!

Zack do you have the green sticker?

Wow I have a messy garage....
