That last picture is indicative of our day. We moved all of those rocks and there's about 2x that much behind there you can't see. Many many rocks were moved!

Do you have to sign some paperwork to be able to help? On our local trails we can't just have people show up and help, a volunteer agreement needs to be done with the Forest Service in advance. Maybe the difference is because Rubicon is a county road.

We've volenteered with the forest service before and signing up gives you limited legal rights while your working. Because this was RTF (non profit) and on their private land, they opt'ed for no paper work (today, I think we should of always sign so they don't loose the property when someone is crushed by a rock).
