That's why I don't have one, well that and every time I have the money life gets in the way.

Yes

Nobody ever talks about the disadvantages of the SAS.

I'm no math guy but doesn't 38 + 8.8 = kaboom?

Hello and welcome!

As for the 8.8 going kaboom, it depends. That rig looks like a mall crawler with the small axles and big tires, speed bumps are about the only thing it might encounter. Second, he admits to not driving it much; it's a f*rd I wouldn't drive it much either so the axle will live a while. :goodfinger:

:stupid: Although if your going 1/2 ton the 9" is such a better axle to work on. I did the same thing as Dan, then I swapped chevy 8 lug outers on my 76 D44 and a 10.25 rear.

Also 10.25 is much better then 14b because it doesn't have a lame bow tie stamped on it!

Lame bow tie is still better than a sissy oval. :loser:

Mall crawler my ass. I wheeled on the TTB for years with nothing breaking. If I was mall crawlin I wouldn't have spent a bunch of money to swap out the axle...

And wow, I haven't heard Ford vs. Chevy sh*t talking since...high school? :goodfinger:

I guess you didn't get the memo, the f*rd vs Chevy shit talking never stopped. Of course, the mall hoppers don't talk about trucks; their debates are usually over which pair of abercrombie jeans to buy. :goodfinger:

In all seriousness I don't care what someone drives for their 4x4 as long as they wheel responsibly, respectfully, & are helping to keep our trails & sport alive. :help:

I'll vouch for the non-mall crawler status. He doesn't break axles, just frames.Image

Yep, crossmember cracks still give you cool points. Bonus cool points if you rip the rivets out of the frame.
