Post Another from San jose
My buddy at work Caleb (aka lowbuck) turned me onto your club awhile ago. Until recently I haven’t had time or money to get back into wheelin. Actually I still don’t have time or money but I can’t ignore the itch any longer. Now I’ve been collecting vehicles and parts for years and I really should be building a old flat fender cause I have several. I also have piles of parts to put something sweet together but it always seems I’m just one big ticket part away from starting. Then there’s the whole time thing.

I also have my old 70 that I’ve owned for 15 years or so. It’s got a cheap mall crawler lift that needs attention. I’ve done a power disc brake swap and power steering. The thing is just to clean, in my opinion, to rub thru the rocks and tear up. Plus it shares Daily driving duties with my weld truck.

Now I should get a huge 401k loan and run out and buy a rubicon. Then run it over to a parts house and have them bolt every goodie they can onto the thing and pick up a fresh ready to show off “trail” rig. But then I would have to buy some yuppie abercrombie and fitch hat and I hate going to the mall. So I’m going to do the exact opposite. Which brings me to my 74 crew cab. Kinda rare and suppose to be my family truck so definitely not gonna tear it up but I have a donor truck that I was gonna pull the engine out of for the crew.

1992 Cummins 4x4. The plan is to do a shackle flip for a little lift, buy the biggest tires I can, sawzall the sheet metal and weld up the diffs. I want to bob and pinch the bed and pinch the nose. Cheap. On the trail. Upgrades can come as parts break. And when the crews ready to become diesel I’ll toss it.

Nice collection.

I like the cheap 12 valve wheeler idea. Dana 60 in the front?

Agreed with your idea not to wheel that 70 4 door, that thing is rare and only getting rarer. I have a dream of building one of those someday as a tow rig.
