Post Re: Tow rig...
So its a 99 F-250. It's exactly every detail / option I wanted... 7.3, ZF6, short bed, 4 door, 4x4, etc just higher miles and a little rough around the edges...

The good...
- 7.3, 6 speed W00t!
- Umm... did I mention 7.3, 6 speed?
- And the price! $10,500
- Clutch has been replaced, grabs nicely
- Lots of things do work (see below), cruise control, power mirrors, power seats
- It has a 05 front clip, and while its not something I would've bothered with it does look good

The bad...
- 236K miles
-The owner before the guy I bought it from (I'm the 4th) was clearly about 22 and concerned with rolling coal, it has $1500 worth of fuel injectors rated at 100% flow increase over stock, a 6 pos chip, some hack intake and a hacked up exhaust. The motor runs OK but is clearly over-fueled. Its blowing black smoke at anything past about 1/3 throttle. The paperwork for the injectors very specifically say they they are meant for highly modified and properly tuned engines, which this is not. Fortunately, the injectors have only been in the motor for about 10k miles from what I can tell. I'm going to replace them, probably just a stock injector for reliability and economy, I'm not looking for make 1,000lb fts with this thing. It's also got a triple gauge pod that's useless, the EGT comes and goes, turbo has never exceeded 10 PSI so it clearly doesn't work right and the fuel pressure reads 100 PSI all the time, because that's the max of the gauge, because its for a gas motor...
- Interior is pretty beat. It (was) a lariat so it has all the nice options, its just beat up. A few tears in the leather, cupholder is broken, electric door locks are broken, no remote entry key fob, the HVAC only works on defrost. Basically needs some seat covers, a heavy cleaning and few repairs.

The ugly...
- The rims are terrible, just terrible

Short term plan is replace injectors and maybe some other motor work to get it running great and smogged. Then look into getting the interior cleaned up and fixing all the little things that don't work. I figure I can afford to put a few grand in this thing and still be ~$10K less than the other trucks I was looking at. As Rich said I drove it home from Tracy and it runs / drives pretty good. Thanks for looking at it with me buddy :thumb:

The truck is at left coast diesel in livermore for some repairs / maintenance / upgrades. All things I would've liked to do but just don't have the time. Plus I had budgeted to spend about 2x as much on this truck so I can spend a little getting it working right.

Nice. Keep the ideas coming. Maybe I can hang truck nuts from the stacks?
