Post Anyone have any stereo decks or speakers laying around.
Im looking for a head unit for our boat to put some tunes in it. Im hoping for something that has an Aux imput or a connection in the back to rig up an Aux cable. Just wondering if anyone has any laying around they wouldnt mind parting with. Im also looking for a couple 6x9 speakers. I figure ill get marine speakers eventually but I can make due with car speakers for a little bit.

Thanks

I've got your old 6x9 boxes with speakers you can have back. I think I have a deck too... I'll check in an hour or so

For your boat (coming from a guy who's never owned a legit boat or gone out very often), I recommend ditching the conventional stereos and go with a decent Bluetooth rechargeable speaker. They are cheap and really put out. Then you could just do a 12v charge port for when you're on longer trips.

Yea we have a little one. The boat used to have a stereo and a couple of speakers but my dad took them out a long time ago. I figure if I can cobble enough stuff together cheap it will work well enough without having to spend the money on a better blue tooth speaker

Makes sense... holes and wiring already there to just go back to that style

Marine stereos are getting cheap. check out Amazon. DON'T use a mobile/non mounted please. It wont sound good and you will regret it. I do highly recommend the bluetooth option and Aux plug in the front of the deck is best. Usually aux plugs fail over time and sound quality suffers, Bluetooth sound quality is way better and you can use your phone for Pandora/i-tunes/whatever music server you like. if the speakers are not very exposed don't stress too much about "marine". regular speakers seem to work good as long as they aren't getting beat up by the sun. This is coming from somebody who deals with this stuff on a daily basis and has picky ass customers so it has to be good.

That's a hell of a cooler rich.

Thanks aaron. I'll keep that in mind. The speakers should be relatively tucked away. I figured I'd just try to get something used and cheap in there for now then try to upgrade later

if you do decide to spend some money for a nice system Polk seems to have the best sounding speakers/amps and all their stuff is considered marine quality. and just remembered too, marine radios, the biggest difference is they have a plastic sheet on the top to keep water from dripping into them and supposedly inside is corrosion resistant. They will die just as fast if they get wet though so don't stress to much there either

What happened to the deck out of our donor F350? I seem to remember it having an aftermarket deck...

If it matters to you for new stuff... I have lightning audio marine 6x9s in the Bronco that I got on amazon fairly cheap and they've been pretty solid for the price.

I just used an old amp I had lying around, an aux cable, and 2 kicker speakers I also had lying around. No box needed, just saw a hole in a piece of plywood and carpet it. Wired the amp to a switch on the dash (remote gain would have been better) so if a skier falls the driver can cut power to the stereo quickly and easily

I've got a really old amp I was going to wire in. I like the switch idea for cutting the sound quickly.
